Baroness Jan Royall of Blaisdon is Labour's Leader in the House of Lords
Announcing the reshuffle of Labour’s Front Bench in the Lords, Baroness Jan Royall said:
"Following the decision by Willy Bach and Christine Crawley to step down from our Front Bench, where they have done a brilliant job, we've made a few changes so we can continue to be a constructive and effective opposition.
"Angela Smith joins Denis Tunnicliffe as a deputy chief whip, and Angela will also work alongside Richard Rosser in the Home Office team; Glenys Thornton will move across from Health to lead on Equalities and ensure that this is given the profile it deserves; Phil Hunt is going to take on Health as well as being Deputy Leader; Jeremy Beecham takes over the Justice portfolio.
"With growth and jobs at the top of Labour's agenda, Denis Tunnicliffe and Dianne Hayter will join Wilf Stevenson and Tony Young in our BIS team; and Dianne will also lead for us on Cabinet Office issues.
“Tommy McAvoy is taking on both the Scotland and Northern Ireland portfolios; and Ray Collins joins Bill McKenzie in our DWP team.
"The one new addition to our Front Bench is Bryony Worthington who joins as a whip, while continuing her work on Energy and Climate Change.
"I am very proud to lead an excellent team which will scrutinise and vigorously oppose legislation where it harms the interests of the people of our country, and support Ed Miliband as he builds trust in our Party so that we can defeat this unfair, incompetent and out of touch government at the next election."
