Richard Rosser

Richard Rosser is Shadow Defence Minister in House of Lords, and also a member of both the Shadow Home Office and Shadow Transport teams. He was made a life Peer in 2004.

 

Richard has a long and distinguished career in the trade union movement, representing the interests of workers in the transport sector. He began his career at London Transport where he joined the Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA). He proved himself as a persuasive and highly adept negotiator and in 1989 was elected General Secretary, remaining in post for 15 years before joining the Lords.  

 

Richard has a strong sense of community service and is an active magistrate. He was a non-executive director on the Prison and Probation Service Management Board (2000-2009) and chairman of the Audit Committee (2004-2009). 

 

Richard is an enthusiastic follower of football and spent years collecting programmes from games all over the country.Since 2009 he has been an Honorary Vice-President of the Ryman Isthmian Football League.
